Pigment & Pour Studio

Come on in.

Hi! I'm the art director.

Sherry makes acrylic, functional, eco resin and mixed media art. She combines pouring, paint, gold leaf and more in one piece. Take a look around, and if something catches your eye, ask about it.

Hi, I'm Sherry. I live and paint in Villa Grove, Illinois, and I thrive on using vibrant color, so hand me orange, turquoise and phthalo green. I started making art in the early 70s with folk art, wood burning and brush work, and acrylic pouring didn't come along until around 2018. The two pieces I'm proudest of now are the guitar and the purple wine coaster set. And as you look around you'll notice a pig, my art director. I love pigs, and he's a play on pigment, so he got the job.

Functional art

Art that is also an object.

Functional art is art in the form of an object, such as a clock, a box or a board, rather than a picture for the wall.

All the pieces

Every piece on this site, on one plain wall. Pick any piece to see it large and ask about it.

Each piece is made by hand, and no two are exactly alike. Sherry doesn't keep most pieces in stock, so yours will be slightly different from the one in the photo.

About Sherry

Pouring came late for me, because I tried so many other things first. I sold a lot of the folk art I started with through the 70s and 80s, and then I moved on to oil landscapes, taking lessons along the way from several artists in Brown County, Indiana, and from a rosemaling instructor. From oils I went to faux stained glass in Indianapolis, where I lived and sold my work.

Then I had an accident, and with that time at home I studied acrylic pouring. Somewhere in all of that there was also a duck decoy I painted, and it was the first piece I didn't want to give away.

These days pouring, paint and gold leaf can all end up in one piece. I use gold leaf because it adds shine, class and elegance, and texture as well, and I make my own paint with pigment, which is one more reason the pig is here. Pigs are cute animals, too, and a pig reflects the rural area I paint in.
